For this reason, sending a PDF can discourage the recruiter because they might not be able to edit your resume easily. Also, keep in mind that PDF or image files don’t normally translate to applicant tracking systems, that means pieces of your resume could get lost. Another thing to remember is that almost all recruiters and hiring managers use Microsoft Office. Also, try to avoid using resume templates, tables or unusual formatting. When a recruiter or agency downloads a version of your resume, it can cause errors with the formatting, and templates and tables can be difficult to edit. Some agencies may take the time to adjust the formatting errors and others will simply move on to another candidate whose resume doesn’t need adjusting.

Welders, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and other trade workers are in high demand and that means vacant, well-paying jobs! Many skilled trades careers also offer a high degree of independence. This can be great for people who prefer to work independently, and a person can move on to have their own business! After earning their college degrees, new graduates are eager to land their first big job and put their degrees to work. But this year could be more of a challenge than it was for last year's new grads. Some recent surveys show that companies hiring new grads is down at least 5% from a year ago. Some recent surveys also show that currently 4 of every 10 college grads are working in a job that doesn't require a college degree. Those surverys showed that currently the top industries hiring new college grads are legal, health care, social assistance and construction. New grads with skills that relate to these industries will get more views on their resumes. The best advice for new grads it to keep hustling and try not to get discouraged, landing that first job can be difficult to land sometimes. But once that first job is obtained, things usally get better, their foot is in the door, even if the job is not their ideal job. It's a big first step in the right direction.
